Venture Labs Investment Competition (http://www.mccombs.utexas.edu/Centers/Texas-Venture-Labs/Investment-Competition/Global-Competition.aspx) – The Super Bowl of Investment Competition (formerly Moot Corp) is the premier world-wide investment competition hosted annually at The University of Texas at Austin. The contest is held annually, since 1984, by the University of Texas at Austin and is considered as “The Super Bowl of World Business-Plan Competition”. The Venture Labs Investment Competition is directed to graduate students only.
Since 2001 the Fundação Getulio Vargas is responsible for the Latin Moot Corp® Competition – aimed at latin-speaker countries. The Latin contest brings to Sao Paolo a representative from each of the most important schools. Since it’s first edition have already participated schools from Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Costa Rica, Argentina and Mexico. The winning team is automatically invited to participate in the Global Moot Corp® Competitionl, in the United States, with the winners from others local competitions. The competition will take place on February, 20th – 21st; 2013.
Rene José Rodrigues Fernandes, Competition Director
Mr. Fernandes is the Senior Project Director for the Centre for Entrepreneurship and New Venture Creation (FGVcenn) at Fundacao Getulio Vargas. He is also Commercial Director for the newspaper Jornal Integracao. Mr. Fernandes has worked for Interbanc Consulting and for CEPAM, a public sector consultancy.
At the Centre for Entrepreneurship he is the director for several projects, including the business plan competition “FGV Latin Moot Corp”, the best practices prize “Premio Empreendedor de Sucesso” and the Latin American version of the “Idea to Product Competition”. His research focus the competitiveness of high growth entrepreneurial ventures, start-up companies and entrepreneurship education.
